Landlocked, and nestled high in the
mountains, Switzerland is arguably the
most scenically appealing country in
Europe. With the highest mountains of
the Alps along its southern border with
Italy, glorious rivers and lakes, and all
those pretty Alpine villages, it’s difficult
to deny its appeal.
In the summer, Switzerland is a walkers
paradise, with the green mountainsides
awash with ramblers of all ages and
abilities.
When the winter snow arrives, so do
the multitudes of winter sports
enthusiasts, for the excellent skiing,
tobogganing, snowboarding, and of
course the apres-ski parties!
The lakes all offer ample opportunity to
try some water sports, but you’ll be
just as welcome if all you want to do is
amble around the shores.
The many colourful mountain railways
also draw an appreciative audience.
Taking a train ride along one of the
twisting alpine lines can be a wonderful
experience, and a magical way to enjoy
some of the most breathtaking views
you’ll ever see from a railway carriage!
