Zambia is, according to a number of well
respected sources, the best place to see
the ‘real Africa’. If by that they mean the
Africa of vast bushland, tribal villages, &
big game, then there’s no doubting it’s a
prime example.
It’s also representative of the ‘real Africa’
in another, less welcome way. Much of the
country is desperately poor, and without
significant support from charities and NGO’s
Zambia - and especially its people -would
struggle to survive.
Despite this, Zambia is a wonderful country
to explore, the welcome is genuine & warm,
and wherever you travel you’ll be greeted by
beaming smiles.
The capital, Lusaka, is hectic and dusty, but
would not seem unfamiliar to those used to
western cities. Most tourists head either to
the world class wildlife reserves, though, or
the breathtaking Victoria Falls.
Both of these will provide you with memories
that will last a lifetime, but be assured it will
be the Zambian people who will stay in your
heart forever.
